The Best of Both Worlds

It's hard being a closet dude. I've been in the dark for so many years now, and it's only recently that I decided to see the light. Still, it's hard to see the ones you love resent you for what you chose to become. It's hard to totally come out into the open and embrace your sexuality. I'm glad I have friends who share the same sentiments as mine, at least I have someone I can breathe my heart out to.

Come to think of it, we bisexuals have the "best of both worlds". We have the liberty to choose to love a guy or a girl. Some people may call us the "posh homosexuals" or the "discreet gay" people. We are predominantly gay but we still have the urge to fall in love with girls. Hence the term "bisexual".

As with every case, we may enjoy living in two heavens but we still suffer the discriminating eyes of society. Admit it, the Philippines is not yet entirely ready to embrace the numerous sexualities of the world. Such taboo cases are labeled as "controversial" here while it's "proverbial" in the West. It takes time, since we all know we're all allergic to change. But when will the waiting end? Fuck society for having too much of an eye for scrutiny for other people's imperfections it can't even see the dirt in its own face.

That's why the closet still exists. It's a theoretical comfort zone for those who are willing to embrace who they really are but are afraid to be tortured by the "pure ones" in our society. True enough, society has locked the door of the closet and won't open it until everyone has seen the light. It's a time deposit waiting to be withdrawn. The question is, are we willing to open the closet for everyone? Only time can tell.

Uh-huh...

Society.... psssft....

You really seem familiar to me... I hope you're not one of the people that I have wronged.

Anyways, I agree, being a closet dude IS tough, although I wasn't lucky enough to have such supportive friends. I even ended up falling for one of them so sometimes it's a drag... I guess you were lucky enough to find supportive friends.
